Gunnar Jonn (1904-1963)
Born at Malmö, he studied there at the Skåne painting school from 1926 to 1928 and under Aksel Jørgensen at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1933 to 1936. He exhibited with the Skåne Art Society and the Aura artist group. In the late 1930s he experimented with different materials including sand and plastics to add texture and relief to his paintings. He spent most of the 1940s on the island of Ven painting the local scenery. He executed a number of public mural commissions and his work is represented in the Swedish Museum of Modern Art, and the museums of Helsingborg, Ystad, Malmö and Lund.
