Christabel Blackburn
British artist Christabel Blackburn trained as a figurative painter and sculptor at The London Atelier of Representational Art in 2009. Since then her has increasingly focused on the relationship between people and their environment. With photographic stillness, her paintings explore city life, from a street scene or building bathed in sunlight, to a lone figure in a gallery.
The work deals with the contemporary culture of ‘everybody is a photographer;’ the ease with which an image is instantaneously enhanced, visually manipulating the world around us. Light plays a vital role in these paintings and it is this timeless quality which Christabel projects in her most recent architectural work.
