Gustav Holger Fritiof ‘Kulo’ Green (1913-1972)

Green studied at the technical night school from 1936 to 1937, then at Isaac Grünewald's painting school and in 1947, he went to Paris to study at the Académie André Lhote.  There, he came into contact with Modernism which he excited him; he was fascinated by Gagarin's first space flights and they inspired him to several paintings. But he was too avant garde for the art market of the time so he organised painting courses at Ålgården and worked as an art teacher at the high school to support his family. Green felt misunderstood and shackled in a small town, and he finally comitted suicide in 1972.  He exhibited in the Maria Gallery in Stockholm in 1964.
