Tony Mann

After working for over 20 years as a designer, Tony Mann is now better known for making automata, for adults and installations. Each is a one-of-a-kind piece exploring fresh ideas; larger pieces often commissioned by museums taking three to four months to complete. Many incorporate objects found in second-hand shops and junk yards - the most recent series of ships are operated by sewing machines; exploring the change in their character from toys, to models to sculpture.

Of his work he says "If they have any purpose it is about playing and having fun".
