Peter White
Born in Ayrshire Peter has painted professionally since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in the early 1980s. His work is described best by his Scottish dealers, Kilmorack Gallery, ‘Peter White’s work succeeds in capturing something sublime, an alchemy of light that transforms an object. And this is what gives his work such enduring magic. Like an icon on a church wall, in White’s work, whether it is a painting of a bowl, head, hat or garment, this ghostly empyreal presence is always reassuringly there.’ A regular exhibiter with the Royal Glasgow Institute, the Discerning Eye and the Royal Scottish Academy where he has won the Oppenheim Prize. Peter now lives and works in the north west of Scotland.
