Ruth McLees

A contemporary Welsh figurative painter, Ruth lives and works in Cardiff having completed her degree in Fine Art painting at the Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2004. A figurative painter she pursues an experimental approach to painting using unusual materials in place of canvas and unconventional substances such as varnish and resin. Of her current series Ruth says “I am fascinated by light, reflection, and the interplay of overlaid images, especially pattern. It is the suggestion of an alternative world existing alongside every-day reality that captivates me and remains a constant source of inspiration.’ An Arts Council of Wales funded solo exhibition of her work was held recently at St David’s Hall.
