LIFE’S FUNNY

We all have them.

The family photos.

In them we see ourselves. In them we see our story.

I recognise the people and the stuff. I recognise the dresses and the doors and the plants and the cars. My mother is my mother, even as a child. There are days at the beach I don’t remember but I know I was there, I can see myself there, on my dad's lap.

I see me laughing.

I see my sister laughing. I try to remember her voice but I can’t hear her. She died in the summer of ’72. And I realise that I miss her still.

I have learned the things I have always known. And I know….Life’s funny.
