Una Stubbs - Brief Encounters at our Cecil Court Gallery
Exhibition E-Catalogue
Una Stubbs, renowned actress with a long and successful career–from Summer Holiday, Till Death Us Do Part, and Wurzel Gummidge(Aunt Sally) to Sherlock (Mrs Hudson)– has become a much-loved part of everyone’s life. While waiting to go on stage or film set, she can be found creating beautiful needle points and latterly painting watercolour portraits of those around her. Her paintings are fun and spontaneous–remembrances of someone observed on a train, in a café, a gallery, or on a street. They are joyful, sympathetic responses to brief encounters, and each is little gem of closely observed life. Una has exhibited regularly in The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition with portraits that have included Bill Nighy, Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Dusty Springfield.
